aprilmay Organization was established in 2006. We are a community-based organization geared towards female victims of sexual assault and sexual abuse.
In 2008, we formed an alliance with Girls Talk Heart to Heart (GTHTH), a non-profit organization that foster the needs of high-school girls. Together we are able to leverage our services to reach a larger demographics of females.
Exploring the issue of sexual assault and sexual abuse is dark and uncomfortable for most leaving many to feel reticent. In support of our mission, we devised the “Art of Peace” Project.

why do our efforts specifically cater to women?
Women are instinctively the caregivers. Like most who encounter a painful experience, victims often suppress their emotions regarding their abuse and/or assault. Avoidance precludes the development of healthy relationships, positive self-image and psychological contentment. In knowing that, our organization is attentive to the needs of assisting survivors confront their afflictions so can nurture loving relationships; their families and themselves.
